Did you know that October 17th is National Pasta Day?
There are more than 350 dried pasta varieties in Italy, and while the typical Italian eats more than sixty pounds of pasta every year, Americans only eat around twenty pounds per person.
If you would like to enjoy a meal on this “holiday,” stop by one of the following restaurants:
Nestled on the Potomac River with scenic views of Washington D.C.’s most famous landmarks, Bond 45 brings the feeling of old New York to Maryland. Its cozy dining area features dark wood, artwork, and tables covered in white cloth, and it’s perfect for date night or meeting friends for dinner. Chef Brando de Oliveria has worked in some of Europe’s top kitchens and creates delicious meals such as spaghetti & meatballs, fettuccine Alfredo, and classic lasagna.
Nestled in Old Town Alexandria, Laporta’s serves high-quality food in a comfortable, casual setting. Guests can enjoy eating in the contemporary dining room or in the intimate jazz lounge that features live nightly entertainment. Executive Chef Douglas Laporta creates a menu that includes hearty dishes such as wild mushroom pasta, cheese ravioli, and Pasta Laporta.
Hank’s Pasta Bar
Hank’s Pasta Bar was created by Jamie Leeds, one of the most highly recognized chefs in Washington D.C. She named the restaurant after her father who inspired her to become a chef, and the modern dining area is complete with dim lighting and plenty of seating. On the menu, guests find an array of meals such as beef Bolognese lasagna, duck ravioli, and spaghetti & meatballs.
