On October 14th and 15th, head to Alexandria’s Oronoco Bay Park for the 42nd annual Virginia Wine Festival.
It’s the state’s oldest wine festival and features more than two hundred Virginia wines as well as delicious food, and live musical entertainment.
VA Oyster Pavilion – The pavilion will feature several of the state’s oyster producers who will serve thousands of cold, briny oysters on the half-shell and oysters prepared in an array of dishes.
Jefferson Vineyards – Nestled in Charlottesville, Jefferson is a family owned winery and vineyard that Wine Spectator says has “one of the region’s most consistent track records.” Its selection includes Vin Rouge, Petit Verdot ’15, and Cabernet Franc ’15.
Rosemont of Virginia – Found on the 450-acre Rosemont Estate that the Rose family has called home since 1858, Rosemont of Virgina features more than 32,000 grapevines and a modern winery built in 2006. The winemakers use newer techniques to produce premium wines that are 100 percent estate grown, produced and bottled. Choices include Virginia Red, Syrah, and Lake County Sunset.
The Williamsburg Winery – Inspired by the finest estates in Europe, The Williamsburg Winery released its first wine in 1988 to critical acclaim. It’s owned by the Duffeler family who strives to make wines with great character and choices include Trianon, Vintage Reserve Chardonnay, and Petite Fleur.
